What does your membership include?
Our membership includes shooting and editing tutorials + actions, overlays, digital backgrounds, and more! It does NOT include editing software.
What editing software is recommended/required?
Users should have access to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. In order to ensure that there are no issues with any of the content, the most up-to-date version of this editing software is best. We recommend the "Creative Cloud" iterations.
Some actions, overlays, and steps taken will NOT work with Photoshop Elements. Users will need the full version of Photoshop to achieve the results seen on Finding North.
What is the difference between the monthly, semi-annual, and annual memberships?
The two main differences are content and cost.
With the monthly membership you receive access to all content created in the last 30 days with the exception of guest artist material. With the semi-annual membership, you receive access to all content on the site, with the exception of guest artist material. And, with the annual membership you get access to it EVERYTHING!
There is also a significant price break for choosing the longer memberships.
Why does the monthly subscription only include content created the in last 30 days?
We have had so many requests asking for a shorter, less expensive membership option. However, when we previously offered a monthly plan that included everything, we found too many individuals abusing the system. They would download all of the content on the site- $35,000 worth of product- and would then immediately cancel. It was defeating for us, so we see this as an excellent compromise for everyone! You still get TONS of content for a very low price!
In addition, while you only have access to content added within the last 30 days, Finding North is the ONLY site that continuously adds multiple pieces of content on a weekly basis. You will receive AT LEAST 12 new products every single month! If you bought these items separately, you often would pay ten times the monthly membership fee!
How do I see the specific content included in this month's monthly membership before signing up?
Simply navigate to the Catalog, and click on the heading titled "Monthly Content"
Does the monthly membership content expire?
Yes. The monthly membership content expires for monthly members once it's been on the site for 30 days. Once product hits that 30-day mark, monthly members will no longer have access to that particular content. You can find the individual expiration date for monthly members under each product.
We encourage our monthly members to download content on a regular basis to ensure they never miss out! You can find more information regarding this here.
I signed up for a semi-annual subscription when it included guest artist material. Given the new membership types, will I no longer have access to these programs?
Because your specific membership will never change unless you cancel, you will continue to have access to guest artist material if you signed up under a previous plan that included it.
I signed up under a previous, less expensive subscription plan, and the price for that particular subscription has now gone up. Will I be charged the new, more costly price?
No. Even though the system may show that you are now on a more expensive plan, you are locked into the price you originally signed up under, and will retain access to all materials included in your sign up membership.
For example, if you signed up for the annual plan when it was $129.99, you may now see that the cost is $249.99. As long as you don't cancel, you will still pay the $129.99 price.
I'm having issues accessing the content/loading the site. Help!
Many users experience issues depending on the browser they are utilizing to access the site. Please note the Google Chrome is the most compatible with our hosting site. If you are having problems loading the site, please first ensure that you are using the latest version of Chrome.
I thought that actions, digital backgrounds, overlays, and brushes were included in the subscription. Why can't I access them?
They absolutely ARE included, and can be found under the "resource" tab located directly under the video. If you are still having difficulty accessing or downloading them once located, please see the "Troubleshooting Video" on this topic for further assistance. It explains why you may click the "download" button, but may not actually see the material open.
I purchased a specific product and not a membership. How do I access my product?
Once your purchase is complete, you simply navigate to the product you purchased, and follow the instruction in the "Troubleshooting Video" on how to download.
The videos are blurry, and I'm having trouble reading some of the information. How do I fix this?
The Finding North videos have been viewed on multiple devices, via multiple platforms, browsers, and internet providers. If you are having an issue with video quality, it is most likely an isolated event. Please first check that you have the highest viewing quality selected in the viewer menu. You can do this by clicking on the settings wheel on the bottom panel.
If this doesn't help, please wait a bit as it is most likely an internet provider issue. (Slow internet can cause poor video quality!)
Does my membership automatically renew?
Because we don't want members to miss out on amazing new releases and specials, it does! But, you can change your plan or cancel at any time!
I want to change or cancel my membership. How do I do this?
You can do this at any time by simply navigating to Dashboard > Billing > Change Plan. No need to contact us!
I cancelled or changed my membership type, but want to revert back to my previous membership price. How do I do this?
Unfortunately, once you cancel your membership, you cannot revert to your old pricing. Our membership prices usually increase every year to account for increasing costs from our platform/host, and our ever growing amount of content. Thus, we encourage you to stay with us- especially if you are on one of our introductory plans! (They are such a great value!!!)
Please note that you ARE locked into your pricing as long as you don't cancel or change your membership.
I cancelled my membership, but my computer crashed, and I lost everything. What do I do?
Sadly, this is a common occurrence. Technology fails, and we understand how frustrating and anxiety-inducing this can be! That is why it is so important to ensure that you always back up your work and your purchased products.
As much as we'd love to help, each subscriber often accesses thousands of pieces of content- and usually does so multiple times. Though we are able to see all user activity, we are unable to spend the time needed to determine what you downloaded and what you didn't. (This would take us hours, and sometimes even days!)
Therefore, we are unable to resupply products lost due to a computer malfunction.
Again, we encourage you to back up your Finding North products- to multiple places if you can!
Do you offer refunds?
Because you can cancel at anytime, and because of the nature of digital products, we have a strict "no refunds" policy.
I want to ask follow up questions about one of the videos or tutorials. Specifically, I want one-on-one information not shared in the site content. How do I do that go about asking?
Teachers cannot provide additional information free-of-charge. We are, for example, unable to provide price list critiques, product lists, contracts, etc. However, you can join our private facebook group and ask fellow members your questions. You can also reach out to inquire about mentoring opportunities with a specific instructor by using the "Contact Us" tab above.
